‘Egyptologist Robert Hay (1799–1863) and Friends in Egypt’
7-8th September 2022 (Duns Castle)
Following discussion by the ASTENE Committee and by the local DCC700 (Duns Castle and Community) Committee, the Hay Seminar due to have been held on 8 and 9 September 2020 has been postponed until 2022. The new provisional dates are 7 and 8 September 2021. Further details will be announced in due course. The postponement, which is in line with that of many other academic conferences due to be held around September, reflects not only the unpredictable nature of developments in the Covid-19 situation itself, but also the uncertainty over possible quarantine measures, as well as the continued closure of museums and libraries, making the preparation of papers for the Seminar difficult or impossible for some participants. Consideration was given to holding the Seminar online, but this idea did not find favour, since the location of the Seminar in Duns itself was felt to be a major attraction for potential participants.
Any member who has made a booking for the Seminar will be entitled to a full refund of any money paid, or alternatively may carry the booking over to the new dates in 2022. Please contact the ASTENE Chair in the first instance (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you need to do this.
We apologise for these changes of arrangements, which are obviously due to circumstances beyond our control.
